Tucker here, and boy do I have a tail to tell!
A few weeks have passed since the 4th of July fireworks burst through the air ... and reverberated in my ears! Most of you look forward to the beautiful displays in the sky. NOT ME! The lively melodies of “God Bless America” and “Proud to be an American” suit me just fine.
Oh, don’t get me wrong. I did my share of celebrating while swaddled in Bert’s or Erma’s lap. Of course, a hot dog and hamburger helped ease the booms, pops, and bangs. Playing with my cousins Luca and Poppy were the highlight of my 4th. As for the noise, however, I’m happy to wait another eleven months for that disturbing raucous.
Wanna know what else has been happening? Bert and Erma have taken me to the vet twice in the past week. Don’t get me wrong. The kind and professional treatment by the vet and his staff put me at ease. But like fireworks, it’s not my happy place.
Last week, Bert and Erma discovered a red sore on the middle of my back that wouldn’t go away, even after generous applications of Bag Balm. So, they took me to see Dr. Dan.
First thing, the medical assistant asked for my weight. How dare they! I’d just finished 1.5 cans of tuna mixed with kibbles. Besides, couldn’t they see my sleek physique? When the scale registered 92.5 pounds, I was rather proud.
After a topical anesthesia, Dr. Dan probed the sore, but couldn’t find a reason for the red spot, We all breathed a sigh of relief. I took antibiotics for 7 days. I let Bert think he fooled me by hiding the pill in peanut butter or deli turkey. Those are my favorite snacks! (Emmi made these but I didn’t get any. The nerve of them!)
We went back to the vet yesterday. This time we saw Dr. Emily. I was so embarrassed. She kept lifting my tail and looking at a lump on my bum. After examining a sample under a microscope, she couldn’t determine what the problem was. So now I’m on more antibiotics. I don’t mind. More snacks.
Bert switched things up today and rolled the pill inside bologna. Keep it comin’, buddy!
We’re praying the antibiotics will clear up what’s possibly an abscess, so I’d appreciate your prayers too. The vets and their staff are great, but I’ve got other things to do, like chasing butterflies and robins that come to snatch worms in my backyard. Also, I need time for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and naps!
I’d love to read your comments, so until we meet again, happy tails to you!
