I try to avoid shopping much this time of year, as we're nearing the end of the summer season, but not all fall merchandise is out and available yet. I don't want to jump the gun and buy something too early, only to find a similar style I like even more before the season has actually begun! Every once in awhile there's an exception to the rule though. Remember these boots? I bought them in July last year - that was a VERY early fall purchase for me, outside of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. But as soon as the temps dropped they became my most-worn boot of the fall/winter season. No regrets with that one! But mostly, I try to save my true fall purchases for October as that's usually when we start seeing real fall weather and I'll have my pick of the litter in terms of merchandise.
This month in particular, I'm saving any shopping I do for the Desert Hills Premium Outlets I plan on visiting while I'm in Carlsbad. It's only about an hour and a half from where I stay, so it's an easy day trip and they have the BEST stores! We're talking Celine, Saint Laurent, Gucci, Brunello Cucinelli, Balenciaga, Prada and more. I try to go every year, and I almost always snag a few amazing deals. One year I picked up these velvet Saint Laurent pumps and this Miu Miu coat - both iconic pieces I'll have forever (or as long as I can stand to wear a heel that high)! Another year my sister treated me to these Celine cap-toe pumps for my birthday. Each visit begets new discoveries and it's one I eagerly anticipate every year! It's also a bit unpredictable - will you find something for fall/winter or will it be spring/summer styles on display? The key is to go in with an open mind and not an expectation.
So with all of that said, I'm not intentionally shopping for anything in particular right now. I still like to keep my eye on what's fresh though, and if the urge to get something new persists, I like to lean on budget buys that will help me transition into the next season. This skirt is a great example! It feels of the moment and fresh in my wardrobe, but it didn't break the bank. I can see myself styling it with sweaters and jackets as we head into fall, but it's a great dinner look for summer with an easy tank like this! If you're looking to reinvigorate your transitional wardrobe on a budget, don't miss these new and noteworthy finds below!
