Last December, I wrote a pretty extensive post going over what I hoped to achieve with Meltdown Press this year. For the most part, we’ve stuck true to the plans.
I wanted to do at least one short story—either comics or prose—per month. Through six months this year, we’ve shared seven shorts on here: five comic shorts and two prose short stories.
We also wanted to do quarterly releases on Kickstarter…and here’s where things will be changing a bit. Due to the exensive House of Haunts fulfillment period that was full of printer changes, and constant tariff threats, that tooks months away from our first campaign of the year.
As it stands now, it looks like we’ll be at three campaigns throughout the year.
First we had Nock #2, which is now completely fulfilled. Then we had Lost Sun #1, which has started being fulfilled even prior to funding being distributed. As of tonight, everyone who backed that campaign has received their digital copies, and we’ll be going to print the day funding is distributed.
Next, we have Moonspawn #1—one of the projects I’ve been looking forward to most. Not only was Moonspawn #0 our most popular KS campaign, it continues to be one of the most sought-after add-ons on each of our campaigns.
For this one, we’ve been accepted as a participant in BackerKit’s Printopia 2025. It’s a huge cross-promotion effort between various print projects on the second largest crowdfunding platform.
Some familiar indie faces will be having projects, including J. Michael Miller and Wells Thompson. Steve Rude’s Nexus is also getting a campaign.
Though it’ll be tough to top the prelaunch follower number that Nexus currently has, I want Moonspawn #1 to be one of the most followed projects on the site prior to the launch of Printopia 2025 in September.
Printopia will last throughout the month of September, so between now and then we’ll be working on promoting the prelaunch as much as we can. Then we’ll be focusing on that fulfillment throughout the remainder of the year.
Which brings us to next year.
What do you want to see from Meltdown Press? We’ve got a whole bunch of stuff in the works. And we want your input on what you’d like to see hit Kickstarter in 2026.
Something Happened to Uncle Chuck #1
Synopsis: Charles Blakowski is the most ordinary person on the planet. He’s also the key to winning The Eternal War between Heaven and Hell. After a terminal cancer diagnosis, both places send an agent to Earth to push Chuck to their respective side so they can lay claim to his soul and win The Eternal War.
Office Space meets John Travolta’s Michael plus Little Nicky.
This would be the first non-RiotVerse creator-owned book I launch on Kickstarter.
Shadewood #1
Synopsis: After Balam’s multiple incursions and subsequent death, magic has never been less popular. A series of unfortunate events on the campus of Shadewood Academy of the Arcane has summoned Professor Rhys Alston to investigate.
Harry Potter by way of the 2025 news cycle.
Hypknot: Gods Unwanted (One-Shot)
Synopsis: Arthur Morris has lived his entire life as a member of the Bruggothian Order. Only, he’s not sure he believes in the Order—or the god they worship.
Doctor Fate with tones of Lovecraft and Eldritchian lore.
Nock #3
Synopsis: John Nock’s investigation into the Bagface Killer reaches its conclusion in this hefty oversized finale.
House of Haunts #2 and Lost Sun #2
Both projects are in the earliest stages of production.
In addition to everything above, I also want to bring SH*TSHOW back to Kickstarter. now that we’ve got the complete rights to publish it, I want to do a remastered edition.
I’m thinking a campaign would include new editions of each issue complete with new covers and Meltdown Press branding plus a collected trade in both softcover and hardcover formats.
So, Misfits…what would you like to see from us in 2026?
