Title. Moments ago I dropped an absurd amount on just a couple of items. I recall being younger and seeing my parents1 dropping $100 on a full-to-the-brim cart of groceries once a month. Somehow that kept us all fed until the next run.
Today, $100 barely fills half a shopping cart in Seattle.
Look: I make a good salary working a corporate job. If I, a single dude living alone, feel like I’m underwater when I shop for groceries… you start to understand why cost of living is the crisis of our time.
My hometown was much less expensive in general than a major US metro. Regardless, people should be able to afford groceries to, yknow, live.↩︎
