2 CNF Prompts (for something different!)

Today I’ve created 2 CNF Prompts based on poems:

Read “I Remember” (photo below) by Anne Sexton. Now, write your own poignant creative nonfiction “memory story” with the working title “I Remember”. Pop in as many juicy specific details as possible, ie “the invisible beetles” “from old jelly glasses”, “a red picture hat”. See if you can end the piece on a strong and lasting image that throws light on an important moment in time. In Sexton’s poem, we get the feeling that this love relationship has ended, but here in this memory we sense her joy in every word.

Launch off fragments: “I remember___” or “That year we___” or “It had something to do with___” The trick with this one is to set a timer for 7 minutes max and write your first draft FAST. It’s amazing how raw and real a story becomes by simply giving oneself a small time constraint.
