Decorative shoe clips, or shoe buckles, have been around since the 17th century. These removable accessories allowed for individuals to adorn their footwear without permanently altering their shoes, giving them more freedom to personalize and have various styling options. Shoe clips were made from metal, silver, fine jewels and stones for both men and women. It was in the 1920s when a modern approach was adopted to enhance and customize women’s footwear ranging from shoe clips made of different fabrics, rhinestones, beading and so on. Now we’re seeing these embellishments come back full throttle; from excess clusters and pom poms to embellishing and ornate appliqué, layered charms, raffia textures and floral additions..all in a variety of sizes, scales and colors.
