Hello, Poetry Friend
We are halfway between the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and Memorial of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary. An octave. And so, I have a Mary poem.
Here’s an explanation of the title:
gebirah: The prestigious title gebirah was used often in the Old Testament to describe the mother of the king. Meaning “mistress,” “great lady,” or “queen,” gebirah is the feminine form of gebhir (“lord” or “master”).

Gebirah Beloved, she sits beside the king Watchful as a gate Desired and desiring With joy she makes all haste Her wisdom – purple as the dawn Her strong arms seek the poor Her heart is not afraid to mourn Life’s swords she can endure Like bread that rises in the night Her womb, it hides a seed Come, Sun of Justice! Shine your light On all who must be freed.
Happy poeming!
Megan
