Issue No. 3 · July 2026
Dear Artifacts readers,
I wanted to delay this issue until we had some of the interviews to share from The Contemplative Futures Series we recorded at Edge Esmeralda. Unfortunately, those need a few more days. So this July issue comes in on the last day to share updates from the community. We have MonX happening next week and today is the last day to join. Please consider joining. We’d love to have you, and it’s going to be a meditator’s paradise. Not that any of our residencies aren’t paradisiacal, but this one is especially beautiful and uses all our learnings from MonasteryX and other residencies. So come join us, or send a member of Meditation Artifacts team a message to learn more.
Check out our exciting next thing, meditation hacker houses! We haven’t decided on names for these yet, and it’s very co-creative, but this is our first foray into longer-term residency experiences. It’s founder/creative/researcher/practice focused, with an interest in intersections of culture, tech, and science. If you’re interested, apply and check it out. It’ll be great to connect you with the community and talk it through. Come live with meditators, founders, and researchers in September, in either San Francisco or Cambridge!
There’s also an interest application for Edge City Goa. Plans are very early stage for this as well. But if you’re interested in living with passionate meditation people in Edge City India this October, this is for you. It’s also in partnership with a “startup eco-ashram” supporting Indian entrepreneurship in that region. Startup eco-ashram is not something I ever thought I’d say but it’s fantastic that I get to.
A couple things to highlight from the community: first, we’re sharing an opportunity to support Meditation Artifacts if you also happen to be curious about Jhourney’s retreats. For those without context, Jhourney is a sort of tech-aesthetic meditation retreat. It’s definitely pulling from traditional practices, particularly with the framing of Jhana states which are a big part of their focus, but the context feels rooted in a contemporary secular culture more common to the Bay Area. If you join their retreats through our referral then some of the proceeds support Meditation Artifacts, so consider doing that if you are intrigued by their unique approach.
The other community submission to note is the Human Flourishing & AI Retreat in Yorkshire. This is in partnership with the Buddhism & AI initiative, which is interested in using AI to support Buddhism and in turn have the future of artificial intelligence supported by Buddhism. That retreat has scholarship seats for researchers and creatives that are passionate about the future-building opportunities there. Please check this out.
Finally, Meditation Artifacts is a non-profit dedicated to building the future of meditation. Recently we’ve run a number of initiatives that have been incredible yet also required a lot of time, energy, and resources from the volunteers and founders. We’d love to keep offering these initiatives and grow to the point of more sustainable leadership. If this is work that appeals to you, please help support this work. We’re looking for donors and supporters who want to be intimately connected to this work to be our champions. If you know someone like this, or if you are this person, please reach out about how you can get involved and support us to keep this work going.
Thank you all for being a part of this. We’re still only getting started.
