Welcome to Now Serving, my little corner of the internet where the gods call the shots, the protagonists sometimes lose, and we spend more time studying myths than we do the real world.
I’m dark fantasy and supernatural thriller author M. Dylan Blair . . . a.k.a. your guide to mythological mayhem, unapologetic storytelling, and the occasional existential spiral. This is where ancient lore meets modern snark, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
On one end, you’ll find the latest updates and ramblings about my novels, in the vein of dark fiction (think supernatural thrillers, dark fantasy, and psychological horror). Maybe the random FREE short story or two, upcoming giveaways, etc.
On the other end, you’ll find analysis essays and a podcast that solely focuses on mythology, comparative religion, and folklore from around the world.
So if that sounds like something you’re into, hit the subscribe to join us along the way.
That’s a great question. You have a lot of wonderful authors to spend your time with on the regular, however . . . they’re not me.
I’m that slightly-weird friend who knows way too much information about way too many random things, and I have a passion for excellent storytelling, strong character voice, and comparative religion and mythology. That, and cats.
Seriously though, I’m not justttttt that neurodivergent novelist who loves cats, coffee, wine (drink responsibly, people), and good books. I’m also an educator and religious scholar.
And if you couldn’t tell, my main speciality is the Afterlife. I’ve studied this stuff since I was a kid, and I couldn’t separate it from me if I tried.
Be it the Judaic realm of Araboth, the Egyptian Duat, or the rituals following the death of a loved one in the Hindu tradition, I bring that world — the profane — into the mundane (That’s a real thing. I didn’t just make it up for the purpose of rhyming).
When I’m not lost in great narrative media or spiraling over grad deadlines, I’m writing the Dark Arcana or The Dreamweaver Saga dark fantasy series. If I’m lucky, the random one-off supernatural thriller.
To read more about me and my work, check out my author website or YouTube channel.
Now, if we’re both lucky, maybe I’ll even get to review a relevant movie, tv show, or book. Or a hot take if I’m feeling spicy (No, not that type of spicy (🌶️)… get your head out the gutter).
Spoiler: It’s all here on Substack now—the ultimate underworld of my creative chaos.
