“Because we need each other.
We believe in one another.
I know we’re gonna uncover
What’s sleeping in our soul”
When I walked to a podium to launch our campaign for lieutenant governor, those were the words ringing out in the room. They’re from an Oasis song I love. Now, as we close out the last 24 hours of our primary campaign, that same chorus still pushes us forward.
Things are hard right now - there’s no running away from that. Our economy is broken. Our politics have failed. But I know we can do better. We have to do better.
Every day, I am in awe of our state and the people that live in it. I know what happens when we turn towards each other, when we believe in ourselves and our neighbors, and when we refuse to quit.
I know because that’s been the story of my entire life. Vermont made my life possible as a working class kid just trying to reach his potential. And Vermont saved my life after the ski accident that left me paralyzed.
I owe everything I have to this place, to its people. And I’ve spent my time trying to give some of that investment back. In my work, in my community, and I hope we’ve built a campaign worthy of it. I love Vermont. I love Vermonters. And I’ll never quit on either.
Right now, we have a tremendous future sleeping in our souls.
I believe in you.
I believe in us.
Let’s go build it together.
Here’s to the next step. See you at the polls tomorrow!
Ryan
