(please pretend I am the type of person that has her act together and sent this to you on actual release day per marketing advice instead of five days late and also reminded you about the tour stops that I actually just got home from etc etc)

It’s official, You Won’t Forget Me has been released the wild and is about to finish its first week of existence, and lord almighty I am so relieved because this is a stretch of time that I’ve been anxiously anticipating for some time.

I’ve discussed it before, but this book has been my toughest yet, and I think a huge reason for that is because of how deeply Cubby’s story resonated with me in a way I wasn’t expecting, and therefore led me to believe no one else on planet Earth would care about or enjoy.

So many of you proved me wrong this week, and for that, I am deeply humbled and overwhelmingly grateful.

YWFM is, of course, a romance. A sapphic one, in fact (happy Pride!) but it’s also close look at creative burnout, depression, and what it means to find out who you are outside of the small box a toxic ex has pushed into during the years you were supposed to be growing your most. I spent the week with many of you readers and booksellers and authors and librarians getting to talk about this happy/sad/angsty/earnest story and remember why I wrote it, and that reminder did more for me than I can ever express.

If you haven’t picked up a copy, there are still plenty of signed copies floating around and I highly encourage you to shop at independent bookstores!

But, my biggest recommendation would be to grab the audiobook! I have truly never listened to one like this, and I am so in awe of what the team at Macmillan Audio and narrator Abi Hardiman created. Abi is not only an incredibly talented narrator, but she also sings the lyrics sprinkled throughout the novel AND she composed original music for the songs. She made this book the best version of itself, and I will never get over the thrill of hearing my verses put to such beautiful music. (AI could never)

Content warning: pet loss

Tour is such a privilege and a high, but it does create a weird post-vacation feeling come down, and it struck me when I landed today that this will be my last tour for awhile as my next book doesn’t come out until autumn 2027 and it’s a different genre for me and something like a tour is never guaranteed (although I’m crossing my fingers). All this to say, I’m so grateful for all of you that have come out at any point to an event, it is truly the greatest honor and highlight of this career.

i think I’m particularly deep in my cup of emotions because while I was on tour, my mom had to say goodbye to our precious, naughty, spoiled pup, Louie. I don’t know why I’m sharing this here except it hit me hard when I found out today and I just feel an urge to say how much I loved that dog and how much I’ll miss him. hug and kiss your pets extra much tonight from me ❤️

Here’s this thing:

I hope to see you on tour in just a few short weeks!!

All my love,

Mazey ❤️🧠🦷
