A little taste of Rocky Mountain Folks Festival

The All My Faith album release tour has begun! We kicked things off with a celebratory feeling set at Rocky Mountain Folks Festival last Sunday. I wanted to share a few videos, to share these moments with all of you! My band at the festival was Joel Timmons on guitar/harmony vocals, Ethan Jodziewicz on drums/bass, and Shelby Means on bass/harmony vocals. They are my teammates in so many profound ways, and it was such an honor to have them in my band that day!

Even though it’s an album release tour, I’m always weaving songs from other albums and times into the set. Sometimes songs from earlier years can somehow feel more present and urgent than ever. Here’s some of “Go Tell a Bird”, a song from my 2019 album called Adaptations.

I started writing “No Time to Rush” when I was on a whitewater rafting trip last summer. Deep in the canyon, there was this part where the echoes off the walls were just totally wild and seemed to go on forever. That’s what I’m picturing at the beginning part of this song, and Ethan and Joel are helping to transport me back there with their musical sound painting.

And of course, when I have the opportunity to rock out — especially on a big festival stage where that kind of thing feels so right — I like to take that opportunity :) Here’s a bit of “All My Faith”!

It also felt meaningful to play “Best Medicine”, which as many of you know is one that I sang often in my former band The Stray Birds. I originally wrote this one with 3-part harmonies in mind, and it’s always especially joyful to sing it that way!

So, there’s a little taste of our summertime Colorado festival vibes!

Rocky Mountain Folks Festival feels like a peak moment for a singer-songwriter. I said that from the stage, too. But I know that I could only feel so at ease up there — on a big stage with an amazing sound crew — because of the hundreds of nights I have played my heart out for an audience of 9, or an audience of 14, around the country, and the world. (And without playing those intimate live shows all over the map, I would have never had the courage to record the new record in the way I did, completely live with no edits.) So as my community, and as part of my audience, thank you to all of you for being a part of the journey that helped me to this point!

I hope you can find a date to catch a show this fall. If you can, please grab your tickets in advance! It helps me, and these independent venues, so much. There have also been so many times y’all have come up to the merch table after the show and said, “I just wish we could have gotten more people out to this show! Next time I’ll bring friends!” So, a gentle nudge to spread the word and bring your friends! Your invitation and recommendation is the single most meaningful thing in bringing more people to the live shows :) I’m just telling it like it is!
