Woke grift and ideological capture: time to clean up academia

Max Klinger · Max Klinger's Newsletter

It’s been a crazy week. My post on here from a few days ago about what I was taught while studying social sciences at Cambridge (including in the department that would go on to hire Jason Arday) went ultra-viral. Across Substack, X and other social media platforms, it’s now been viewed well over a million times, and that figure is continuing to rise rapidly. All of that meant this page became one of the top ten fastest ‘rising’ Substack newsletters in World Politics. Madness.

That’s all amazing. But the best thing about it is that it’s been possible to get a fairly sizeable movement going off the back of that article’s popularity made up of people who are sick of the unbelievable amounts of fraud, dogma, intolerance, and grifting within academia and on campuses across the world.

In other words, it might be possible to do something about it.

Crucially a pretty large number of academics and students seem to be on board. Many of them have been getting in touch to provide evidence, examples and first-hand experiences of the way that progressive dross is being funded, spread, and imposed on people. Whether that’s through pseudo-scientific research, the existence of an illiberal and conformist environment on campus, the promotion of Islamists to top roles in key faculties, or anything else.

If you are one such academic or student, please send me a message (either on here, or by leaving a comment on this post, or as a direct message on X or Instagram). And if you are interested in helping out, feel free to offer suggestions and spread the word.

Have had a big response to this callout. Please share with anyone who might want to read it, the more responses, the better.

If you feel like supporting this project, and my work, paid subscriptions are a huge help.

It’s important to keep this stuff in people’s minds despite the fact that the ideologues who make a living within these universities are smearing anyone who criticises them as ‘racists’ who want to ‘lynch them’ in the wake of Jason Arday’s sad death (I’m not making that up, check out what the principal of my old Cambridge college had to say recently if you don’t believe me). Don’t let them get away with it. Public attention needs to be focussed, right now, on what the Arday scandal began to expose.

My next post will most likely be a round-up of some of the anecdotes, messages and information I’ve received from different sources.

I’ll also be putting out as many easily shareable clips and posts as I can, explaining the way that cultish activism gets laundered through the academy. I’ve included a few of these below.

Here’s a clip from a recent interview:

Here’s a podcast (25 mins) with GranniOpteryx, a popular YouTuber. Was a good laugh, and we discuss the issues I describe here in detail:

And here’s an instagram reel about events in Cambridge:

I am trying desperately to scrape enough funding together to allow me to focus on exposing and pushing back against this stuff full time, so paid subscriptions are a massive help and hugely appreciated. A paid sub will also get you a range of perks like comment rights on all articles and notes, access to exclusive paid-subscriber chats, the ability to read all paywalled posts and more. Thanks.

If you could please subscribe, leave a comment, and ‘like’ this article it would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

The racial grievance narrative lives on

Sir Simon Woolley, the principal of my former Cambridge college—Homerton—just gave this speech to students. Have a watch, and imagine sitting in the audience as an open-minded undergraduate who takes issue with racialised identity politics.
