Right now it’s 1:13. Essentially, 8 hours before you read this.

I’d planned to write this week’s ‘extra’ insightful newsletter on our bus ride from Barcelona to Cadaqués.

But with a broken air conditioner, a changed bus, and an almost-melee between the driver and an angry abuela (grandma), I never got the chance to put my thoughts down.

It’s fitting, honestly, considering the week that’s been.

So today, in this (brief) edition of Captured, I thought I’d just share a quick thought on focusing on what matters.

Let’s dive in.

Throughout the week, my business acumen has been put to work. Negotiating contracts, pushing through pricing conversations, and organising my schedule for the weeks ahead.

My parents arrive in 10 days, I’m in the middle of a photoshoot, and I have two more to go before my 30th birthday in 2 weeks.

That saying about going from zero to 100 has never felt more real.

You may have had a similar week. Pushed to your limits creatively, put in unfamiliar situations, or simply just needing a weekend more than you did last week.

And it’s in these moments that it’s easy to focus on all the stresses and to-dos that come with them.

But here’s the thing. The stress is what matters. The contracts, the shoots, the full calendar. That’s the life you’re building. That’s the thing you were working toward.

And it’s easy to miss that when you’re in the thick of it.

But honestly, catch yourself sometimes. Find the thread that’s causing you stress and turn it into gratitude.

Shift your perspective ever so slightly.

At least, this is what I’ve been doing this week, and it’s surprisingly helped a lot.

Happy shooting & catch you next week,
Matty
