Welcome to Book Geeks!

Dear Readers—

In writing the last few weeks, what’s become clear to me is that (a) I like writing about books and (b) you like reading about them. It’s also become clear that most book discussions on social media are the exact same—i.e., lots of dull reviews and pics of the same book stacks on repeat. So I’m going to try and pivot to fun topics that have already started to click:

• Shelf Life!: Taking our favorite classics and popular releases. Instead of basic reviews, let’s give crazy categories to get to know them (think Rewatchables pod for books).

• The Search for the Great ___ Novel: Like the Great American Sports Novel (in progress), I want to bring you along as I search for genre/location/era-defining books.

• Book Melee: Two similar-ish books battle it out for world domination across set criteria.

• Goofy Lists: Like authors whose first book was their best, best heroes/villains, etc.

• Read-alongs: In which I pick a book I haven’t read and provide realtime updates (e.g., Ulysses).

I’ll still touch on sports, pop culture & movies occasionally (especially when they pertain to the reading), but I hope you enjoy the new direction. I’m sure I’ll come up w/ some other ideas as this develops, but until then, I’m happy to welcome you to Great-ish Books!
