In my serialized Wastelands spinoff novel War for the Whale-Road, the Republic of Everett controls an island called Lefka. I don’t go into a lot of detail, but it’s described as a major food producer. Everett’s main claim to fame is its Arsenal — a still-functioning Old World (pre-apocalyptic) shipyard — so I imagine the Republic’s Home Islands are a food-import industrial zone and Lefka and other more agricultural colonies make up for it. For that reason, and because of Lefka’s in-between strategic position, the rival Tejadan Union farther south has repeatedly attempted to seize it. The resulting need for Everett to keep much of its fleet there despite having other enemies is the main driver behind the Everetti character Ronald Lewis’s storyline.
Lefka doesn’t appear in Whale-Road besides being mentioned a few times and drawing off Everetti ships from the primary conflict with the Sejer jarldom of Abuarik, but depending on how successful the novel and later main-sequence Battle for the Wastelands projects are, we might visit it.
