Week 188: In Brockenhurst

We stayed in a flat in Brockenhurst. It was above the cycle shop on the corner, a building I ve got a memory of passing by for some thirty years. It was a lovely spot, but the best part by far was what it overlooked: a level crossing. R was rapt. Every ten minutes the lights [ ]

Week 187: Excellent camp

Another excellent Camp Bestival. Strongly endorse.

Week 186: silly/iconic

Last year I wrote a little roleplaying game. It s about being a troubadour, singing a song about noble nights. Only, the knights are frogs. Everything is pond-scale. The playtests have been very silly, very fun, and more moving than they have any right to be. I m going to publish a version of it on Twitch [ ]

Week 185: To write

Cannibalising my work week notes for this one. Forgive me, but life is tough in the content mines A reflection: how I write has changed. My current work project has thrown that into focus for me. I m working in a small crew (two other full time, two half-time) to write a report for a government [ ]

Week 184: Dragula treatment

I think I last saw My Chemical Romance back in 2005. Lotta melodrama, in the wake of Helena , but more punk than glam, back then. Anyway. Kieron offered up a +1 for the London shows celebrating 20 years of The Black Parade and that sounded like a blast so I took him up on it. [ ]

Week 183: Something remedial

Went to my first Poetry Stanza this week. Stanzas are linked to the Poetry Society, a cluster of poets in a given area. Felt like a good way to bring that into life in Hastings early on. I took Estuary along, a poem I ve been shuffling forward for a while. It s riffing on something from [ ]

Week 182: Ghost moth

Saturday evening, we head to Greyskull to watch Constance Sojourner and eat chips. The drizzle shifts into a downpour, brief in a bruised sky. R’s been fidgeting for the toilet for a while and finally declares she needs a wee. We dash to the loos and she does her thing. On the way out she [ ]

Week 181: The castle

Three commutes last week. The journey in is trivial. But the last hour of the way home draaaaaaaags. I spent altogether too long noodling on my phone, so it’s time to get back into novels. Friday started a glorious weekend. Got my feet in the sand, got R’s bucket and spade out, made some clothes [ ]

Week 180: Gate lock

Threshold weeks. New home, new phase of work, new moon. ‘New wardrobe’ would be a literal need, rather than an indicator of style. Saturday night, the Molly Winklers (local, inclusive prog morris side) had a show down at The Stables. They started by processing down from the ruins of the castle around the corner [ ]

Week 179: Get settled

Phoning it in again as we get settled. Time to take a breath.
