I love lots of different genres of music, and today, in listening to Emperor, I thought, "Wow, this really just sounds like how I feel, screaming impotently at the world, because you know it's wrong, and all you can do is fucking scream." I was, previously in this listen, thinking about how the sound of not only the vocals but the whole thing sounds like it's coming from the impotent center part of one's body.
Black Metal: Every song (almost every, and I mean in the whole Genre) sounds like someone shouting out their agony at the endless procession of torment, of the world.
Death Metal: Generally sounds like the people who have wronged you actually, finally getting comeuppance.
Melodic: Every song sounds like riding into battle, with your boys. Sometimes they sound like the waves coming up around you, at the beach, but that's often more metalcore.
Regular: Sounds like the darkest, angriest black ritual you've ever been.
Metalcore: Sounds like the pulsing, churning, charging torrents of the Earth, each guitar slice coming across you like a shimmering blue wave. Sometimes, it sounds almost like Death metal. (See Randy.)
Thrash: Sounds like the anger at the world of black metal, but with a little more victory and vindictive. Also, sounds way more rattly than Death. The Heaviest, hardest genre. Most Abrasive.
