‘Absolutes’ cluster in July top 11

The ‘Absolute’ line continues its surge in comic shops, as seven titles land in the top 11 for new-comics sales this month.

The following is a look back at in-store sales at Speeding Bullet Comics in Norman, OK, for June 2026.

The top seller for the month has a personal connection, as the “Team America Racing: Full Throttle” one-shot took the top spot at Speeding Bullet. Thanks to all the fans who tried out the comic I wrote, drawn by Josh Hood and colored by Lorenzo Scaramella.

The Absolute titles in the top 11 included “Absolute Batman” #22 at No. 2; “Absolute Catwoman” #2 at No 4; “Absolute Green Arrow” #3 at No. 5; “Absolute Martian Manhunter” #12 at No. 6; “Absolute Wonder Woman” #22 at No. 8; “Absolute Superman” #21 at No. 9; and “Absolute Green Lantern” #16 at No. 11.

Matt Fraction’s “Batman” #11 takes the No. 3 spot, up from No. 5.

Outside of CSN Press at No. 1, DC Comics took seven of the top 10 and Marvel and IDW one each.

Marvel’s top title remains Daredevil, with issue #4 at No. 7, holding steady from last month. Other Marvel titles in the top 25 included “Marvel Swimsuit Special: Brand New Beach Day” #1 at No. 16 and “Avengers: Armageddon” #2 at No. 19. Two issues of “Amazing Spider-Man,” #32 and #33, land at No. 24 and No. 25. The reprint of the Marvel/DC crossover issue, “Avengers/JLA” #2, in a facsimile edition, was the No. 22 title.

IDW’s celebration of 300 issues of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, #20 of the current run, took the No. 10 spot.

DC had six additional titles in the top 25. “Dark Knights of Steel” #1 at No. 12; “Fury of Firestorm” #4 at No. 13; “Zatanna” #4 at No. 15; “Supergirl” #15 at No. 17; “Action Comics” #1100 at No. 18; “Clayface: Celebrity Dirt” #1 at No. 20.

Image’s top title was “Invincible Universe Presents: Battle Beast” at No. 11, down from No. 10. “MASK” #2, from Skybound’s Energon Universe, lands at No. 23, down from No. 2.

Vault landed its “Dungeon Crawler Carl Special Edition” #0 in the top 25, landing at No. 21.

“Absolute Batman Vol. 1: The Zoo,” the July book club selection at Speeding Bullet Comics, holds at No. 1 in graphic novel sales for July. It’s followed at No. 2 by “Absolute Batman Vol. 2: Abomination.”

In the No. 3 spot was the Compact Comics edition of “Batman: Under the Red Hood,” up from No. 9. Other Compact Comics editions making the top 10 include “Batman: The Long Halloween” at No. 5; and “Batman: The Dark Knight Returns” at No. 8.

Dropping to No. 4 from No. 2 is the collection of the current “Batman” series written by Matt Fraction, “Batman Vol. 1: Daylight.”

“Absolute Flash” Vol. 2 ranks at the No. 6 slot, followed by “Batman: Dark Patterns” at No. 7.

Vault manages to land on the new comics and graphic novel lists, with “Dungeon Crawler Carl TP Vol. 1” at No. 9.

Dark Horse takes the final top 10 slot with “Hellboy and the BPRD 1955-1957” TP.

Meanwhile, what do back issue sales tell us about the comics market?

“Amazing Spider-Man” topped the back issue charts as “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” topped the box office charts. Marvel took 7 of the top 10 spots overall.

“The Walking Dead” moved into the top 10 for Image’s best showing in months, at No. 2.

In the third spot, “Absolute Batman,” which has been dominating the new comics and graphic novel charts, makes its way onto the back issue rankings as well, at No. 3. DC’s other title on the charts is a classic from the 1980s, “New Teen Titans,” at No. 6.

“X-Men,” the Marvel series beginning in 1991, is Marvel’s second title on the list at No. 4. “Uncanny X-Men” follows at No. 7, down from No. 3 in June. “New Mutants” comes in at No. 9.

“Venom” perhaps gets some Spider-Man carryover heat and lands at No. 5, as does “Spectacular Spider-Man” at No. 10.

“G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero” from Marvel is at No. 8, likely getting some interest from Skybound’s revival of the property and possibly the return of Tomb Raider in the Larry Hama-written current “Joe: ARAH” title.
