Matt Bivens, M.D., Matt Taibbi · The 100 Days

Thank you DaveL, Endicott Mongoloid, Paul F, Ellen Collins, Cheryl Dianne Hayden, and many others for tuning into my July 10 live video with Matt Taibbi! I did a poor job pre-advertising this and if I do another live video, I will try to announce it beforehand better.

For those interested in an easily digestible overview of what the Twitter Files meant, consider my previous summary of that escapade.

On the livestream we also mentioned, but never got into the details of, how the Ukrainian secret service (via the FBI) has had Americans removed from across social media whenever they had “the wrong opinions” about the war.

I wrote about that phenomenon here (in the second half of the article).

Finally, here’s a graphic, courtesy of the U.S. House Judiciary Committee, that decorates one calendar month soon after the war began with the logos of social media companies, to mark those days when the FBI forwarded requests to delete the posts or even the entire accounts of people expressing Ukrainian Wrongthink. These are only the known, documented censorship requests that Congress has confirmed were passed on by FBI from the Security Service of Ukraine, or SBU (Служба безпеки України in Cyrillic). They involved thousands of accounts and posts, often with limited engagement (i.e., no likes or re-posts). One wonders if, by the time they got to such trivial non-influencers, they weren’t just mopping up after a much larger censorship program …

From a U.S. House Judiciary staff report in July 2023.
