Mas Vino Please has had a few iterations. Extensions of myself which continue to evolve and take shape as I grow. I used to make content about wine. And then it was events: community spaces that invited people who looked like you and me in to share some wine, some music, good food and make a new friend. And then it was media: newsletters, YouTubes, podcasts. And then it was wine itself. Developing a concept from ideation to product, complete with branding and photoshoots and a sales pitch and finally sales (lots of them! thank you!). I’ve done a lot in this short/new career of mine, they are all things I am proud of.
The thing that has become more and more clear once each of these new branches grow is that Mas Vino Please exists as a space for people to feel represented and uplifted in food and wine, specifically, Latinos in food & wine (and if I want to get even more specific: Latinas and queer Latine.). We are a growing demographic in the wine industry. It’s projected that Latinos will represent 1:5 wine drinkers by 2028 and will account for 40% of the industry’s growth in coming years. As the years have gone on, my audience has transformed into a beautiful mosaic of men and women, mostly Latina/e/o, and I’m honored to help facilitate a space where our food, music and culture can be celebrated adjacent to wine.
Mas Vino Please (the wines) is the embodiment of that: a wine brand rooted in culture, community, and connection. I want people to meet these wines and see themselves reflected back in them. I want them to know that these wines pair just as deliciously with birria and ceviche and empanadas as it does it French delicacies, charcuterie and whatever else we’re taught that wine pairs with. I want them to show the wines to their aunties and their tíos, and for them to love them too! Bring this wine to an asada, a girls night, reggaeton perreo, a chisme sesh at home with your primas. Drink this wine in the places and spaces that remind you of home and your family and your culture.

Okay, not technically a wine term, but if you’re gonna drink Chismosa you have to know what it means! Chismosa means gossip girl in Spanish. It’s often used as a term of endearment between friends and family. La Chismosa de la familia always knows what’s up! And there’s no better way to spill a little chisme (gossip) than with some vino! My friend and I have called each other chismosa since we were kids and this wine is an ode to our lifelong friendship.
Chismosa & Secreto Pork Bahn Mi. The perfect pairing for rich, marbled pork secreto is, in my opinion, a hearty rose — and Chismosa was made for moments like this! Chismosa is both aromatic and fruity, both of which will highlight the grilled pork with Gewurtztraminer bringing in the fresh rosy-ness and the Montepulciano and Mourvèdre giving us splashes of red fruit and strawberry. The fizz cuts through the fattiness and brings out the spiciness of all your bahn mi fixings. 10/10 on this one!
I <3 Silverlake Wine. Many moons ago, when the world was on standstill I used to ride on the back of a Vespa from DTLA to Silverlake Wine to pick up wines for the week. We couldn't go inside, so I would diligently pick out my wines online and then request them at the pick up window.
How times have changed! Now I’m INSIDE. POURING WINE! MAS VINO PLEASE WINE! What a crazy little life. We poured A LOT of wine that day. Syd came to set up her photo booth. I blasted Colombian Tropi-pop through the speakers. Y’all really showed up and showed out (on a school night too!) the store was packed to the brim full of beautiful faces, drinking wine and sharing this moment together. I love you! Que linda esta vida!
