I'm currently looking for a job! I have worked for the last 15 years as a Web Developer and Senior Software Engineer. I have experience leading a team and working directly with clients. I recently went back to school and graduated with a B.S. in Cybersecurity. I’m seeking a security role, ideally in pentesting or red teaming, but I’m also open to any security or software engineering positions.…
I competed in the TryHackMe AI Odyssey 2026 CTF this weekend, and it was really fun! I managed to completely finish two of the four rooms. I have writeups for each here: https:// dustindikes.com/blog/thm-vecta ra-ai-odyssey-2026-ctf-writeup.html https:// dustindikes.com/blog/thm-token -city-ai-odyssey-2026-ctf-writeup.html
A couple other Defcon 509 members and I completed in the SNYK Fetch the Flag 2026 CTF. It was really fun! I did a write up for it on my blog: https:// dustindikes.com/blog/snyk-fetc h-the-flag-2026-ctf-writeup.html
I have my new website set up! https:// dustindikes.com I also set up separate RSS feeds for my blog and my week notes (updates of things I did each week). https:// dustindikes.com/feeds.html Since I am working on transitioning to cybersecurity (specifically pentesting), my posts and week updates are all going to be centered around infosec. Later I am going to add a Notes section (with it's own…
Sometimes I'm amazed at how far technology has come. You no longer need to sit at a computer to get work done. I am currently reading a school book, finding online references, and writing a school paper all from my phone while waiting in a line.
I'm sure I've posted this before, but I love listening to the Defcon channel on SomaFM while coding or hacking: https:// somafm.com/player/#/now-playin g/defcon @ defcon @ somafm # defcon
I've been working my way through my backed up RSS feeds, which includes old weeknote posts from @ latte and the comic at the top of this one[1] is particularly beautiful. 🤎 I love the way she custom designs particular pages on her site instead of them all following the same look. My daughter asked if I wanted to play a game she made up. We each draw a character, name their powers, and draw health hearts. She then draws a monster and narrates the battle. Each player gets to take turns to doing things in response to what is happening. She made up a simplified version of D&D and was a fantastic dungeon master ❤️
Last week I was laid off, so I am searching for my next job. Does anyone who follows me have remote, full time software engineer openings? - Full stack developer / software engineer - 15 Years of web development / software development - Experience with C#/dotnet, React, Angular, PHP, agile (jira and azure devops), leadership - Pacific time zone I'd be glad to provide more info about my…
I just learned that hackers.town had a radio station, which unfortunately no longer exists, but I did find this relevant bumper saying it is no longer in service, so that's amusing. https:// archive.org/details/hackers_to wn_radio_bumpers/Error.mp3
I don't often get decent pictures of birds, but today I noticed some Violet-green Swallows flying and landing near the top of a parking garage, so I went up there and managed to get pretty close without scaring them away, and I got a few decent shots while flying too! # birdsofmastodon
I decided to start logging the interesting things I find each month and publishing a list on my site. I started in the last week, so there aren't a ton in this one. Linkdump #001 (2024-04): https:// 0xdstn.site/linkdump/001.html
I don't know how I've gone this long without learning to use the ~/.ssh/config file! So much better than creating aliases or pushing up in your history until you find the last time you ssh'd into the server. Makes it way easier to set IP address hosts, identity files, etc. https:// 0xdstn.site/wiki/development/# ssh%20config
This isn't an easy thing for me to accept, but I feel like it makes coming on Mastodon so much more enjoyable: If I enjoy someone's content (as in the projects, games, etc that they create) but they mostly just complain on Mastodon, I don't have to follow them here. I can still follow their RSS feed for their site if they have one to keep up to date on what they're doing, but I don't need to keep…
