At least he has (mostly) good taste.

Downside of whole house audio? I was listening to The Wall in the kitchen, Mr16 started to yell to me to turn it up, when he remembered he could use his stereo to connect. Which he did. And then changed the music after the song finished. # Grrr

"This week's menu is epic!" Always nice to get a reaction from the kids like that.

I was planning on doing some work on a demo rig tonight (actual real physical hardware, that needs soldering), but getting home two hours late kinda dealt to that idea.

Finally get to my hotel at the top of Queen St in Auckland at 22:45, could do with a cheeky gin after a longish walk from the water front, only to find the bar has closed. # Damn

He was shocked when I commented about something on the page and wondered how I found it.

Somewhat relaxing afternoon doing some work on our physical security demo rigs. Hooked up some more cameras, rearranged so I have two independent demo rigs (different access control systems + cameras with different video management systems).

I'm trapped, and my coffee mug is empty. Ah well.

I can tell when my 16yo has been at my house when I'm not there. Our digital piano is turned on. He can't resist playing a piano.

He also really wants me to buy lamps to dot around the lounge.

Heh. My 16yo has asked if we can go rug shopping for our lounge. Apparently the gray carpet is too much gray.

This evening my 16yo son had his first performance in a pub, soloist playing keyboard and vocals at an open mic night. I expect this will be the first of many many performances. (I won't publicly share links to the recordings I made.)

Mr16 has just rediscovered my whole house audio setup and now has his music playing in 3 different rooms (technically 4, but the garage amp isn't turned on). And he is ecstatic.

Don't mind me, just downgrading one of my boxes from Debian Forky to Debian Trixie. (my virtualisation platform doesn't support systemd and Forky makes it much harder to not use systemd. I need to change that, but it requires a reboot, so...)

Ah, one of the joys of "click and collect" groceries and having the kids put the groceries away. Starting to cook dinner, went to grab the meat from the fridge, only to discover it wasn't there. I'd already had to go to the supermarket to get more spuds as some were bad once I cut them open, so I didn't want to go again. Fortunately I had some spicy chicken tenders in the freezer. Grabbed those…

Painfully reminded of the distances in Auckland tonight. Here for the night, checked jazz gigs. Nearest is quite a drive and ... it just isn't worth the hassle.

I've just spent 4ish hours repairing a curtain liner which had ripped. Am I wishing I'd just bought a new one? Yes. Am I proud to have successfully patched it? Yes. Would my mother be proud? Well, that I did it yes, she would however be a bit horrified about the sewing.
