Autumn greetings from the chilly Stockholm archipelago! Admiring the colorful changing leaves lately reminds me that autumn is coming and it is already time for me to write this seasonal article.

In Daoism, we have a saying:

ShānZhōngWúJiǎZǐ

山中無甲子

No calendar is necessary in the mountains

A part of me has forgotten the calendar a little as I am still living in a summer vacation mode, with a more loose, schedule-free wandering Daoist manner.

According to Daoist Cosmology, the official beginning of autumn 2026 will be August 7th. This autumn, however, will not be dominated by the typical energy, Dry Metal Qi, that we often experience. I have already begun to feel a little damp Qi moving through my body in the recent days.

In the coming 3 months, TàiYīnShīTǔ 太陰濕土

, the cosmological energy, Great Yīn Damp Earth, will dominate northern hemisphere. I expect that this will manifest as unusual rain storms in many areas of northern hemisphere. This energy will also bring difficulties for those who already have weak digestion system or chronic fatigue symptoms.

Clinically, during this season, practitioners might see more people suffering from body aches, inflammation, and/or depression.

As I have mentioned in some of my old seasonal newsletters, the rapid climate fluctuation we continue to experience around the world have been making my traditional cosmological analysis a little more challenging. Regardless, I believe that YīnYángFǎnZuò 陰陽反作, the reverse effect of YīnYáng energies principle, in which Yīn suddenly transforms to Yáng and vice versa, still works well when making weather pattern predictions. For instance, I have seen the disharmony between Fire and Water growing stronger and stronger. We see this when unusually dry and very hot weather can quickly morph into a bout of irregular cold with heavy rainstorms, and vice versa.

As always, daily Qigong practice is an empowering and effective daily habit for maintaining your health and well-being.

To continue supporting Qi-friends’ cultivation practices, I have scheduled multiple online and in person courses throughout this autumn.

I warmly invite you to take advantage of a rare opportunity this year!

The Thunder God is the symbolic commander of life and death within nature and for all living beings, and demonstrates the Twenty-four JiéQì 節氣 (Solar Terms or Seasonal Qi/Energies) found within each yearly cycle.

In Daoist tradition, we believe that we receive incredible health and wealth benefits from Thunder Talisman and Thunder God Mantra cultivation practices, which are heightened during the Thunder God Festival /the Twenty-four JiéQì.
