Saving Time Like Stacking Tetris Blocks

It's time to get some stuff done.

I put some clothes in the laundry, it takes me about 5 minutes of actual work and will be done in the dryer in about an hour and a half. To my dismay they don't come out folded so I still have to spend about 10 minutes doing that.

Then I load the dishwasher; another 5 minutes of work, the dishes will be done in about 2 hours.

I start my Roomba. It does my whole floor in 30 minutes. This took about 5 seconds of pressing an app button. I run off a Codex job on my computer, it takes about 5 minutes but turns 5 hours of work.

I go to Amazon Fresh order my groceries, it takes another 5 minutes and at some point in the near future the groceries will show up at my door and I'll put them away, another 5 minutes of work but at least an hour driving to and from and finding everything at the grocery store saved.

While I'm on Amazon, I order some new light bulbs and some toys for my kids, that saves me an hour to the hardware store in an hour to the toy store.

While the dishwasher and washing machine are running. I take a shower. Dressed, water my plants replace the bird seed in the bird feeder. Cook breakfast and then watch an hour of my favorite show.

We can now accomplish in two and a half hours what used to take eleven and a half hours. If you put in 8 hours a day of work you theoretically would be able to accomplish as much output as what used to take someone 35 hours before electricity and modern conveniences.

There are now also lawnmower robots, self cleaning cat boxes, automatic pet feeders, not to mention thing that you don’t even spend a moment of your own time accomplishing. Direct Deposit. Happens by itself. I used to have to drive to the bank, wait in line and deposit a check, and drive back home. Now it is a complete background operation I’m not even aware of it for the most part.

Humanoid robots are coming. In the near future someone writing a prompt for a house design will be all it takes for an AI agent to order all the materials, schedule deliveries and rent equipment that is operated by a fleet of humanoid robots that work 24/7 to build a house. As we get further and further into the future, that house might be built in space or attached to a space station. Things like Neuralink could mean a thought is all would take to make massive changes in reality. If you go far enough in the future these changes might even be made a a galactic scale. This trend not only shows no sign of slowing down, but has been speeding up from before humans were even a species.
