Greetings! I'm alive. Life updates since I last posted: 1. Married my partner last April after nearly 15 years of in a relationship. She's still the best. 2. We had our first baby (baby girl named Josie) this early July. Being a parent is different but rewarding. 3. Ironically Debian 12 was super buggy (random screen freezes with Gnome + Wayland). On Fedora 40 and much more stable now.
First time running Linux on my desktop in a long time. Went safe by installing Debian 12.5 with backports + flatpak installed.
Randomly decided to log in again. I'm alive! Things going on: - Music/Band stuff - Fitness stuff (Running and lifting) - Work stuff - Playing too much Baldur's Gate 3 the past 6 months; now being replaced by early access Hades II - Not thinking about tech too much :D Hope all fediverse friends are well :)

Life update: Had my first ever eye exam and turns out I'm fairly nearsighted and need glasses now. (Spherical -1.25 each eye). On the bright side, glasses are fun, so here's some new "LinkedIn" photos 🤓.

Hello HPC Social! My name is Nicholas Danes and I am a Computational Scientist at Colorado School of Mines, supporting researchers with their HPC and other research computing needs.
