Hola! Introducing Masia angel fund

Today we’re officially introducing Masia — a new €20M angel fund born out from Aldea Ventures fund of funds, and backed by experienced tech founders and operators.

Masia is dedicated to progressing Barcelona as a growing hub of tech talent, both by connecting local founders with major investors across the European tech scene, as well as connecting Barcelona-based international founders to the local ecosystem.

We believe Barcelona is at a tipping point. Three things are happening all at once:

1. Barcelona as a tech hub is maturing fast. Local first-time founders are exiting their companies and looking to reinvest capital or start new initiatives.

2. The city has seen a tangible influx of international founders and developers, creating a diverse ecosystem. In 2024, two-thirds of Barcelona-based tech startups had at least one international founder.

3. Most international VCs, Micro VCs and emerging fund managers require a local co-investor who understands the Barcelona tech scene to successfully gain exposure to the ecosystem at early stage.

We started investing quietly last September. In stealth, we’ve already backed 9 startups alongside 20+ international Micro VCs and emerging fund managers. We've proudly backed the teams at Fermat, BIORCE, Zymvol Biomodeling, Capably, IMA Health, Oliva, CareerOS, Spock, and Galtea, which shows we were right: Barcelona tech founders are now more international than ever before, and are supported by international specialized VCs and emerging fund managers.

We've proudly have co-invested with 25 of the new generation of Specialized Micro VCs and emerging fund managers. These investors represent the new generation of fund managers (capital entrepreneurs) being built across Europe.

Over the next couple of years, we’ll deploy €20M across 60 pre-seed and seed-stage investments, with one clear mission: to help Barcelona’s frontier tech talent shine across Europe and beyond.

We haven't built a fund. We've created a one-of-a-kind Collective of founders and funders with a strong connection to Barcelona, and a shared willingness to helping each other.
