With a background that bridges engineering and business (BBA, BEng, MSc), Jorge brings a unique blend of technical depth and strategic thinking to every venture. He started his career as a Business Intelligence Consultant in Spain before moving to Amazon’s Luxembourg office, where he optimized massive logistics datasets and explored the potential of AI in European fulfillment operations. Jorge’s biggest leap came when he joined the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, leading a team within the Language Technologies research group, where he met Baybars
Baybars is an accomplished AI researcher and product innovator who previously led the Voice Group at Language Technologies and co-founded Col·lectivaT, focusing on public administration and social entrepreneurship.
At the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, they helped drive cutting-edge AI research at scale — and saw firsthand the risks, biases, and blind spots that can come with deploying AI systems. Baybars initiated a project to ensure the quality and robustness of machine learning models at BSC, which became foundational for Galtea.

When asked about their proudest milestone, Jorge and Baybars don’t mention code or funding. They talk about people.

This strong foundation has earned them the trust of their first enterprise customers, along with powerful early feedback that’s helping shape the product into something truly category-defining.
When Jorge first pitched the idea of building Galtea, Baybars smiled and said he’d been meaning to propose the same thing. “If I were going to build something with anyone,” he said, “it would be with you.” They shook on it that very night at a Greek restaurant, over a shot of tsipouro.
The ecosystem in Barcelona is one of the best in Europe for building a deep tech company, and it keeps growing. The city combines top-tier AI and deep tech talent with a thriving, global startup community. Galtea itself maintains a close connection with the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, where some of the most advanced AI research in Europe is happening today.
