Hello there and happy Friday!
I thought this would be a good week to return to my weekly newsletter instead of a podcast. I have been teaching 12- to 15-year-olds every afternoon this week for an art camp, and have been happy, but exhausted at the end of each day!
It’s been a long time since I’ve taught kids, and I've really loved watching the way each child works in their own way and has their own artistic instincts. I love creating activities for them that can sneak past their self-doubts and inhibitions and encourage their creativity.
Teaching art always inspires my own art, something I find to be true of teaching in general. When I teach the Bible, it forces me to face the things I don’t know, and learn from the people I’m teaching, as they each bring insights that don’t occur to me. I think that’s why I’ve always found teaching so thrilling.
Today, I thought I’d give you a summary of what I’ve been doing the last few weeks in case you’ve also been busy and can’t keep up with all the emails and notifications.
NEW Bible Study
Last week, I published Study #12 in the Luke series on the first part of Luke 3 on John the Baptist. I am loving this study! It is challenging me to make the Old Testament connections that I think Luke is making both explicitly and implicitly. I also really loved looking at the maps and better understanding the context of the land in this story.
