Gabriella, Gabriella Stidd, thank you for your paragraph on how you are surviving and self-care. Thank you Daudi for your music. And Lizzy, the prompt hit me hard, so I quickly had to write before I listened, because emotions and phrases started popping out.
Mary Beth, my strong advocate for Mary Beth, I see you little bug, showing the real you. When you tell the truth MB, you shine. Deep in your creativity, there is humor, clever humor, creative humor, yet little bug, you consider yourself and carry yourself in a serious manner. You had to learn to smile, and force a smile. When you sat down to write or draw or paint, your creativity waited for you to listen to her. She had (has) so much to say to you…how wonderful you are, how beautiful is your voice in written form.
Finally, circumstances shifted and you were able to write your memoir about a scary part of your life over many years. But only after writing, throwing it away and deleting it.
Your gift to yourself is honesty.
When you shared the truth and stopped trying to look perfect; when you admitted your faults, sweet pie, heavy burdens lifted. You no longer sought approval of those closest to you. The vindictive anger shifted slowly away. Sweetheart, when you tell the truth, my ripe tomato, the creative wick is lit and MB sparkles.
Does your creativity need protection? No, it doesn’t anymore. Truth stands alone and in no need of shelter. Continue to find ways to bring the caterpillar to the milkweed.
Truth frees.
Keep taking the truth serum and pushing yourself forward one step at a time.
