Hey, my plump dancing wisteria, like a newborn, like a six-month-old, and two-year-old, we forgive you. You are our seventy-six-year-old grandmother who has been forgiven and will be forgiven again today.

Little peanut, we see you. We saw you buy groceries with coupons and food stamps. We see you, our soft fuzzy bumble bee, do what moms do---you gather the nectar and move from stamen to pistil to bring your children to therapy and drop them off on Wednesday at eir dad’s. We saw you plan where to go dancing during the weekend with your girlfriend. Was all that a beautiful mistake? Your daughter, your best friend says you made mistakes. And sweet one, you know that you aren’t perfect, and you also know that there is nothing mistakeable about food stamps and going dancing. You did your best, sweet Mama, you spoke truth and that is one of the many things we love about you.

We know that you are sovereign and that you reign dear queen, that your sanctuary is together and giving you pleasure. Mistakes, Schmistakes, we see you, hold you, and keep you safe and in our presence. Your sanctuary MB is ours. We are pleased. We hear your joy, your tears. We forgive whatever your daughter thought you did that needs forgiveness. We see you Mary Beth still trying to please others and make them like you. We love you Mary Beth just as you are today, self-critical and giving, worrying and open-minded. Let’s celebrate you in your sacred space.
