Monthly Reading Room

If your inbox is full of articles you saved to “read later” but never got around to reading, you’re not alone. We all do it.

The Reading Room is a monthly digest to help you stay caught up. At the end of each month, you’ll receive a curated summary of that month’s articles, so you can quickly catch up on anything you missed.

You’ll find each monthly digest in the Reading Room on the website menu nested under the Explore tab.

“I see the beach as medicinal. I like to walk, to swim at all different times of the year. To me, it’s cathartic”

— Emily Raffield

Dear readers,

The morning air is the first sign the end of summer is here, changing from summer soft to cool and crisp. I’m loving its perfect beauty.

Living on the coast is a different way of life; it’s a good way to live with a certain mindset I don’t think you find anywhere else. You become engaged with the weather, the tides, and the sun. Being connected to nature this way is spiritual, and as Emily points out, it’s medicinal.

It’s also a much more relaxed lifestyle, which becomes noticeably quieter once the seasonal crowds leave and we can enjoy our “local summer,” which September is famously known for. The best part of local summer is that the mid-days are still warm, the ocean water is still warm, and the crowds have vanished. No more long waits at your favorite restaurants; the traffic is gone, and the beach is empty. It’s the ultimate beach-lover’s dream.

Enjoy the remaining summer days. Thank you for reading, for being here, and for supporting this work.

With gratitude,

Mary Ann Rollano
