The Manipulation Is Real, but So Is Our Power

Welcome to my first Substack article. I’m not even sure if I’m going to reach a single person, but I wanted to get a few things off my chest that I truly believe other people are feeling as well.

All of this seems surreal. I do not recognize the country that I live in right now, and it’s been devastating. Seeing how many people are so completely clueless, racist, cruel, entitled, and/or arrogant. Perhaps it’s all of the above.

However, there aren’t as many of them as you think. As Elon Musk illustrated the other day when he allowed us to look at the locations of major accounts for a very brief 90 minutes, a majority of the MAGA accounts are actually bots or foreign actors.

It was estimated during this short period of transparency (before he realized what he had done) that about 70 percent of the accounts fell into these categories.

Facebook, Instagram, and Meta are required to complete quarterly and annual reports on fake accounts across their platforms. In the fourth quarter of 2023, Meta took action on 691 million fake accounts, a decrease from 827 million in the previous quarter.

Facebook has deleted a cumulative total of 27.67 billion fake accounts since October 2017, a number described as 3.5 times the global population. You can spot these accounts easily because they follow a formula. They never really post political content on their own and if they do, it’s quite mundane. But they are always ready to respond instantly to anything a liberal or Democrat writes. At this point, when I see replies like this without anything outrageous or personal, I just block them immediately.

There’s no point in engaging. It is not a real person.

On the other hand, we are seeing significant evidence revealing ongoing election fraud this year and in prior years that primarily benefited the GOP. Elon essentially confessed to this. He knew Trump had “won” four hours before any of the polls did. He stated in an interview that he would go to prison for the rest of his life if they didn’t win. In that same interview, Bannon agreed and said he would also go to prison for the rest of his life if they did not win. When they did win, Trump thanked Elon because he “knows those electronic voting machines better than anyone.”

Naturally, MAGA accused us of doing all of this, yet again and again they are the ones being convicted for it.

Since then, we have watched crisis after crisis, many of which I believe were manufactured or outright false. In the past, it would’ve been easy to call us conspiracy theorists. But there is increasing evidence supporting our point of view.

I’m angry, and I know many of you are as well.

I think we need a community where we can talk together and support each other. A community based in truth and a willingness to hear contrasting opinions without becoming angry or violent. A community of like-minded people who can openly discuss what they’re concerned about. Bottling all of this up is not healthy.
