Hi there 🧡
April 1st.
New month. Clean slate.
Also, for me: first day of chaos.
Today, the campsite where I work opens to the public.
If you’ve never worked a seasonal job, here’s what that means: in the space of 24 hours, everything restarts. Full speed. No warm-up. Les chapeaux de roues as we say in French, zero to a hundred before you’ve even had your coffee.
And somewhere between the first emails flooding in and the to-do list that doubled overnight, I had a very honest thought:
The way I was organising myself until now? It’s not going to work anymore.
Here’s my confession:
For months, I did everything the “right” way.
Batched my content on Tuesday. Built the perfect system (at least for now). Made my perfect time blocking calendar managing my solobusiness, my work at the campsite & my personal life.
It looked right. It felt wrong.
But I kept going anyway.
Because that’s what you do when you’ve invested time into something. You tell yourself it’s going to click finally.
But I was building a system for a version of my life that doesn’t exist right now.
A calm, predictable version. One where the campsite isn’t open and the sun isn’t finally back after months of grey skies.
Because here’s the truth & I don’t think anyone talks about this enough:
Right now, all I want is to sit outside with a book and actually feel the warmth.
Not optimize. Not batch. Not review my Q2 goals.
Just. Read. Outside.
That’s not laziness. That’s a signal.
When your system starts fighting your life, your life always wins. Period.
So I stopped asking: how do I fit everything in?
And started asking: who decided this was the only way?
No one. That’s the answer.
There is no committee. No penalty for rethinking your whole organisation mid-season. No rule that says the system you built in January has to survive April.
So here’s what I’m doing differently:
I’m rebuilding around this version of my life. The busy one. The seasonal one. The one that also wants 45 minutes outside with a book when the weather is finally good.
Not the version I planned for. The one that’s actually here.
Because letting something go is not quitting.
It’s editing.
The best writers don’t publish their first draft.
The best businesses don’t keep the strategies that stopped working six months ago.
And the best solopreneurs, the ones still here in three years, aren’t the ones who never changed their system.
They’re the ones who knew when to.
This is your reminder.
April 1st doesn’t have to mean a new plan, a new habit stack, a new 90-day goal.
It can just mean: this isn’t working for me anymore & I’m allowed to change it.
One question for you.
Reply and tell me: What’s one thing you’ve been doing out of habit, not conviction? The thing that’s still on your list but hasn’t felt right in weeks.
I read every reply. Every single one.
Stay awesome 🧡
Marlene

Simplify. Organize. Find Your Flow.
P.S. If this resonated, save it for the next time someone tells you you're "doing it wrong." Chances are, you're just doing it your way. And that's the whole point.
