Folks,
I’ll be completely honest, in all my years in public service, I never could have imagined the kind of crap that we’d be seeing from this president.
The corruption. The chaos. The cruelty.
But as much as Donald Trump is holding this country back, we do not win elections just by being the party that’s against him. We have to hold him accountable, yes, but we also have to tell people what we’re fighting for.
So, Virginia, this is what I stand for:
🏥 I’m for our rural hospitals. I’ve seen what it does to a community when one closes – and I’ve seen what happens when one reopens. One of the proudest days of my career was the reopening of Lee County Hospital in 2021. Today, that hospital is once again at risk of closure because of Donald Trump and congressional Republicans’ massive cuts to Medicaid.
🩺 I’m for moving towards universal health care coverage in this country. Because at this point, the truth should be evident: Universal health care is the only way we can build a sustainable system that finally does something about out-of-control costs.
🏡 I’m for building more housing, cutting red tape where it makes sense, and making sure teachers, nurses, firefighters, and young families can afford to live in the communities where they work. That’s why I co-authored the bipartisan ROAD to Housing Act, which, I’m proud to say, is now law of the land.
🔌 I’m for making sure that data centers pay their fair share. I introduced legislation that would make data center developers pay for the utility infrastructure they need, use water more responsibly, and give communities a real voice before these projects move forward.
But everything – and I mean everything – comes down to what happens in the midterm elections. We have just 77 days left to get our message out, mobilize voters across Virginia, and win big.
Virginia, that’s the mission, and I hope you’ll join me.
If you have a few hours to spare between now and Election Day, please consider signing up to volunteer with Virginia Democrats. Whether it’s knocking on doors, registering voters at a community event, writing postcards, or texting voters – we need your help.
Or I hope you’ll consider a contribution to my reelection campaign today, to help fund our outreach efforts in this pivotal final stretch.
The fight continues,
Mark Warner
