I'm Writing a One-Man Show

Greetings from Rio de Janeiro! In case you’ve missed my stories from Instagram, I’ve been in Brazil for the last few months studying Portuguese and enjoying a creative retreat.

To foster my writing, I’ve been staying in an incredible historic bungalow in the bohemian neighborhood of Santa Teresa, a jungly hillside of former coffee plantations dotted with decaying castles, colonial mansions, and Rio’s iconic yellow bondinho trams. My days have been split between intensive Portuguese classes in the mornings, and creative expansion in the afternoons from my writer’s cabin.

In short, I’ve had my hands full and have not had much time for Substack. But two months later, I can now say that I’m quite fluent in Portuguese and I’m making progress on the one-man show. And I want to share some stories with you.

For the last few months I’ve been working with renowned solo performance coach, Terrie Silverman, MFA. Terrie is an acclaimed Story Coach, Creativity Consultant, award-winning Writer/Performer & founder of Creative Rites, one of the premier story coaching companies in the world.
