Monday’s agenda item #1: Friday midnight changed Canada’s conversation. Canada-U.S. trade negotiations collapsed, Trump’s threatened 50% tariffs - now imminent; Canadian retaliation expected. Managers, executives, boards, and decision-makers, from sea-to-sea-to-sea must answer: what’s our exposure? Which customers, suppliers, contracts, margins, capital plans, and jobs are vulnerable? Beyond direct costs, which stakeholders, partners, and communities are at risk? Some industries will be hit harder than others, but every Canadian has skin in this game. The larger strategic question: better continental trade terms now, OR faster diversification elsewhere? BOTH! Business doesn’t negotiate trade agreements. Canadians pay the bills.
