Mark Heij · Interesthings - A cycling newsletter by @harkmeij

Good day!

This edition is absolutely packed. Tools, apps, series, gear, and other geeky treasures I’ve collected over the last few months.

If you’ve been reading Interesthings for a while, you know part of why I write this newsletter is to share the cool stuff I discover. Posting all of it on social media would be chaos, so this is my quiet corner of the internet for it.

Today, I’m catching up on everything I’ve been meaning to share. No long intros this time. Just lists of things I think are worth your attention.

  • Focus Flight – A focus app that makes deep work feel like a flight. You check in, pick a destination, and the app plays airplane sounds while flying over Google Maps. Perfect mix of productivity and escapism

    .

  • League of Legends: Wild Rift – Been playing too much of this. I’ve played LoL since 2012, but the mobile version really hooked me again. Smooth gameplay, great design. I need to delete it…

  • Bloons TD6 – Casual fun. Upgrade monkeys, pop bloons, relax. Nothing more to say.

  • Balatro – Instantly addictive. Gorgeous visuals, poker-meets-roguelike gameplay. A must if you like card games.

  • Pokémon Go – Still fun after all these years. Love it in bursts, especially when cycling.

  • Duolingo – Did a Spanish streak before my trip to Spain this summer. It genuinely helped. Duo’s probably mad at me now though.

  • MyCols – Tracks your cycling climbs automatically via Strava. Fun little addition, not essential.

  • Shortwave – AI-powered email client that keeps my inbox clean and organized. Big time saver.

  • ChatGPT Atlas – My new browser (yes, this one). Combines AI and browsing beautifully — faster, smarter, more connected.

  • Wirecutter – Always check before buying anything. The New York Times’ curated reviews are top-notch.

  • Make.com – I’ve automated a lot of my business with it. When a client accepts a proposal, folders are created, emails go out, and everything runs smoothly. Feels like magic.

  • Dynamic Turblo - Pump - Using this pump for the last few weeks has been good. Had to use it one time with a flat tyre. Compact and does the job just right. Get some discount with Mark20 when you order your products at Dynamic.

  • Oakley Kato Low Light - Glasses - Bought these as an alternative for low-light, which if often the case in the Netherlands. Big style upgrade and also really functional.

  • Sony FX3My biggest business investment yet (besides that green bike). This camera elevated my production game. My setup:

    • Hoya Variable ND

    • SmallRig Cage + Top Handle (Hawk Lock)

    • Feelworld Monitor

    • Amaran light

    • Sennheiser MKE600 mic

    • Hoya Mist Filter

    • Tenba suitcase

    • PGYTECH backpack

  • Salomon XT Whisper Comfortable, durable, and just plain cool. The kind of shoe that actually lasts.

  • NuPhy Air75 – Mechanical keyboard perfection. Great feel, great look. Bonus: matching desk mat.

  • Apple Magic Trackpad – Mice don’t work for me (lefty problems, big hands). The Trackpad is pure flow. Got it second-hand — best few euros ever spent.

  • The Studio (Apple TV) – A meta parody about Hollywood. Gorgeous shots, sharp writing. Instantly one of my favorites.

  • Severance (Apple TV) – Still obsessed. The second season is wild. No surprise it’s award-winning.

  • Final Draft (Netflix) – Squid Game meets real athletes. Insanely entertaining.

  • Elio (Disney) – A wholesome, feel-good watch.

  • Andor (Disney) – If you love Rogue One or sci-fi in general — this is essential viewing.

  • Innotec GrandSommelier Wine Cooler – Got it for €80 on Marktplaats. It instantly elevates the room, and the wine.

  • Plexiglas Whiteboard – Ordered a frosted blue one for the office. It’s going to look amazing (will share photos soon on @betterviewagency).

  • Flowers – Fresh flowers change a room completely. Small gesture, big impact.

Thanks for reading today’s instance. I hope to inspire people in living more, cycling or having stuff that is (in my opinion) really cool. If you have some cool things to add, please send me a message!

Make it an amazing week!
