Have you ever noticed how time slows down when sunlight hits your skin just right? Or how, for a split second, everything feels okay. Even if nothing’s really changed?
Those are glimmers. They are moments of awe, happiness, and belonging.
They’re opposite of triggers: tiny, unexpected instants when we’re fully present in our bodies, and not stuck in our thinking minds.
They’re simple things:
☀️ feeling the sun on your skin
🌿 being in awe of nature
❤️ having a special moment with someone you love
😊 a kind interaction with a stranger
💬 a stimulating conversation
✨ making a new connection
When we notice glimmers, something in us softens. The nervous system exhales, and we feel closer to ourselves, to other people, and to life itself.
For me, drawing is one of the ways I find these moments.
When I sketch in nature, I feel time slow down. The simple act of observing a leaf or tracing the curve of a shadow becomes a meditation. We notice things so differently when we pause to draw them.
It’s a nervous system reset disguised as art. Like I mentioned during my daily nature drawing challenge this summer:
“Zach Bush says humanity’s healing begins in the quiet reciprocity of witnessing and being witnessed by nature. I believe that too. Drawing is how I return the gaze.”
I’ll be facilitating this immersive 3.5-hour workshop in collaboration with my friends at the stunning Biblioteca Almirall, a historic, 19th-century private library in Barcelona that has been restored into a unique events space located on the Tibidabo mountain.
It’s a 3.5-hour immersive experience where we’ll:
🌿 take a short walk of observation
✏️ draw with accessible materials like oil pastels and wax crayons
💫 explore creativity as a way to regulate and reconnect
🥖 and close with a shared aperitivo in community
We’ll close the session with a shared snack, conversation, and a mini exhibition of your works. A moment to connect, reflect, and celebrate the beauty of noticing.
If you’re in Barcelona, I’d love to have you there. It’s a small, warm gathering — no art experience needed, just curiosity and presence.
Come draw, breathe, and find your own glimmers. 🌿
Love,
Marina
