When I was an associate in commercial real estate brokerage more than 10 years ago, I made one promise to myself that completely changed the trajectory of my career.

In every meeting I attended, whether it was a small team meeting or a boardroom full of senior leaders, I had one goal:

Speak at least once.

It didn’t have to be groundbreaking. Sometimes it was a question, an idea, or simply adding to the conversation.

As one of the youngest people in the room, it was often intimidating. There were plenty of meetings where I questioned whether I had anything valuable to contribute.

But I kept raising my hand anyway.

That one small habit didn’t just increase my confidence—it increased my visibility.

It sparked conversations, led to new projects, opened doors to bigger opportunities, and ultimately accelerated my career in ways I never expected.

Looking back, I realized I wasn’t just trying to become better at my job. I was intentionally becoming known.

Over the years, I’ve learned there are simple but powerful ways to increase your visibility and make sure the right people understand your value.

Here are a few of the strategies that have helped me get in more rooms, build stronger relationships, and create opportunities throughout my career:
