As a woman, and a mother of a daughter, the idea that Reform could win the next General Election is deeply troubling. In Penistone and Stocksbridge, it will be a fight between me and Reform.
That’s why I’ve launched my new #Women4TheWin campaign, bringing together women from our communities who want to stop the rise of Reform on our doorstep.
Reform’s candidate in the recent Makerfield by-election openly said that “I’m a sexist, I’m sorry but I am” and has publicly opposed abortion.
Reform have said they would scrap the Equality Act, which protects women from discrimination on the basis of sex, protects women from being fired for being pregnant, and protects women against sexual harassment at work.
Just last week, a Reform MP said that to bring domestic abuse down, the England team need to just “keep on winning”, even though domestic abuse rises 26% when they win - winning matches does not reduce the epidemic of VAWG we face.
Since I’ve been elected as your MP, I’ve voted to decriminalise abortion, make hate crime on the basis of sex an aggravated offence, and introduce new rights in work including menopause and bereavement leave including pregnancy loss.
I’ve also worked to overhaul women’s healthcare and medical misogyny, including fighting for safer maternity care, improve menopause care, and welcomed the new Women’s Health Strategy.
I’ve also campaigned with Claire Throssell to repeal the presumption of contact and change family courts to protect victims and children and welcomed the Government’s landmark Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy.

Over the past few months I have been at the centre of scrutiny and challenge on the Sheffield Local Plan, which will shape how and where homes and businesses are built across our Sheffield communities until 2039.

At my ‘Pride in Wharncliffe Side’ constituency meeting in February, residents told me that they would like to see the speed limit reduced. The speed of traffic through the village poses a real danger to residents, particularly to children travelling to Wharncliffe Side Primary School and people trying to cross safely near the Wharncliffe Arms.

I’ve been closely in touch with the Government and the preferred bidder for SSUK about reports of discussions between the Official Receiver and the preferred bidder collapsing this month.
I know this reporting is worrying, and I want to offer some reassurance and clarity for our community.
As it says in the original Times article, the Government have reiterated that ‘talks are ongoing” with the preferred bidder. The reports of talks collapsing have come from a third party who is not a party in these talks.
In the Steel Minister’s Statement in Parliament on tariffs this month, he restated the crucial nature of SSUK for aerospace and defence long term, as well as importance of speciality steel for downstream steel manufacturers. The Steel Minister has funded the extension of the Official Receivership process, and I know that as I do, he wants to see our SSUK sites restarted as soon as possible.
As I have from day one, I will always continue to fight for our steel site, our jobs, and our community.
As a mum to a primary school child, I’m absolutely thrilled that our government has today announced that we will ban access to social media for all children under the age of 16.
This is about putting their safety, their happiness first; and making sure their childhood is not marred by access to social media platforms.
We’re building on the experience of the Online Safety Act to apply our understanding of age verification to further protecting our children and because of the powers introduced in the Children’s Wellbeing and Schools Act, we can adapt as technology changes.
We’re taking world-leading action on gaming services and live streaming platforms, where at the moment strangers can contact any child unchecked.
This is a government that stands by parents, that supports them to do the best for their children, and that fights for their happiness and safety against the most powerful companies in the world.
This is about more freedom to grow up, more opportunity. It is not just about taking away, we are also investing in them too - in music lessons and access to sport and culture - to ensure every single child growing up in this country can go as far as their talent will take them.
