Hey folks,
I’ve been buzzing to share this! My friend Mar and I are officially heading to Privacy Camp 25 in Brussels on September 30th! We’re honoured to be part of this year’s theme: Resilience and Resistance in Times of Deregulation and Authoritarianism.
We’ll be leading a workshop exploring how censorship and shadowbanning are impacting women’s health and sexual wellness, and more importantly, how we can build real strategies for resistance and change. Think cross-sector collaboration, legal expertise, and big-picture conversations about reclaiming feminist health discourse in the digital age.
Mar is a Security Counsel with experience working and researching in blockchain technology, cybersecurity, and digital policies, and I’ll be bringing the women’s health censorship and shadowbanning experience to the workshop. We were 1 of only 10 applications chosen, with more than double the number of entries applying this year compared to previous years, so we’re delighted to speak at this event.
To celebrate, Mar and I treated ourselves to a little round of drinks (chin chin giiiiirls!). And yes, flights + accommodation are already booked. We’re READY.
If you’re going to Privacy Camp 25 or based in Brussels, I’d love to connect! If you’ve got restaurant recommendations, please send them my way (we’re already dreaming of the waffles and pommes frites, nom nom). Bonus excitement: one of my amazing clients is based in Brussels, so I’m hoping to meet her in person too!
It honestly feels so aligned. Working side by side with Mar on this research has been a dream, and this trip already feels like such a big milestone.
If you’d like more information on Privacy Camp, check out what it’s about and the previous year’s topics here. The tickets to attend in person and online are free, so if you’d like to tune into our talk or any of the others, please do sign up!
Catch you in Brussels?!
Maria xx
