Morning all.

Yesterday, Father’s Day here in the UK, I found time.

Before the day’s events began, spending 30 minutes early in the morning with my 4 year old son on his bed, talking about his wishes, the day ahead, travelling, the work me and his mum do, both individually and together.

I had 2 frames left on my roll after my photoshoot mid week and so I asked if I could make a portrait of him.

Sharing with him the process of preparing the camera, looking down the viewfinder, focussing and how his image will appear to me (and why it was back to front).

“I saw you Daddy”, he told me just after I took the photograph, seeing me looking at him through the lens, reflected in the mirror.

He was intrigued by the sounds of the shutter, asking about everything.

Then together we went to our room and made a portrait of his mum, Anna. Through the pop up magnifier he looked at her on the screen. Then I focussed.

He helped by pressing the top of the camera as I pressed the shutter.

Then we opened up the camera back as we discussed where the photographs were now, and what would happen next. Then he helped stick the film tab down and close up the camera again. Completing the elements together.

The slow, methodical and disciplined process shared.

Slow time - a true gift to me on fathers day, both the time with and sharing what I do with my son.

Thank you as ever for reading and your support of my work.

My best wishes and please, take care of yourself.

Marc
