Two new Zines, A Bigger Book Fair, Photo London and a shortlist.

‘In the Shadow’ and ‘On the road 2’

Yesterday I took delivery of 150 copies of each of my two new zines, ‘In the Shadow’ and the follow up zine ‘On the road 2’.

I’ve decided to publish both at the same time in the hope of making shipping costs easier for those of you building up a collection of these, with the cost for sending both zines together the same as sending one.

‘In the shadow’ is a collection of images of football pitches and basketball courts I came across on my travels making work in Europe, much of it for my work about The Holocaust. Seeing these places of leisure, often next to or even on the site of a former concentration camp or ghetto, evoked very conflicting emotions, and it felt important to record these places.

‘On the road 2’ (the follow up to my recent zine - I promise I tried to conjure up a more imaginative title but this rather obvious one really worked best) is a collection of images centred around a feeling of desolation that so many places I travel to making work fill me with.

I am always trying to reconcile the seemingly peaceful present of where I was standing, with the terrible and violent past I was photographing, or a future waiting in the wings, ready to devour.

Both these new zines are available to order now from my website, in both standard or signed editions, as well as the special edition that I always offer also, that comes with a signed 10x8 inch print.

Upcoming Photo festiavls

Next month I will be at two London photography fairs with my work. ‘Photo London’ in it’s new home in Olympia, and ‘A Bigger Book Fair’ in Peckham.

In Peckham I will have my own table (showing my 7 books and now 4 zines) along with close to 100 other publishers and photographers. At PhotoLondon I will be in the publishers section with colleagues from The Photobook Club Collective, where 15 of us will be showing one of our books each.

I will be at Photo London on the preview day (Wednesday 13th) and A Bigger Book Fair all weekend (15th, 16th, 17th).

Shortlist for RPS International Print exhibition 167.

I am also delighted to say that four images from my work ‘The Edge of Ruin’ have been shortlisted for the Royal Photography Society International Exhibition 167.

318 photographers from 41 countries were chosen from a worldwide open call in which over 10,000 images were entered by 5233 photographers around the world.

Shortlists are just that, but it does provide the opportunity to then be selected for the touring exhibition.
