Dear Rosedale Community,
Next Tuesday will be my final ANC meeting. I will send one more newsletter with a longer note before the ANC meeting, but just again thank you to this wonderful community for letting me serve in this role. While we wait for a new commissioner to be elected, I am happy to keep helping out. Feel free to text or call me at 202-455-6238.
In other news, you are going to see Apogee Farms on Kramer Street a lot more as they take over ownership and DC Water wraps up their project. More to come, but hopefully we are turning a corner.
Finally, I could not end this without talking about the federal occupation of D.C. We have seen ICE and other agencies throughout the neighborhood, including Benning Road and 17th St. Make sure to read through ACLU DC Know your Rights and sign up for Free DC to stay informed.
At the next ANC meeting, I will propose sending this letter to send to DCPL, DGS, and DPR. In the letter, I am proposing two things, support the expansion of the new library fully into the current parking lot to allow the largest possible library and to have DGS build a new parking lot, ideally at 17th just south of Gales St. NE behind the current Capital Bike Share station which is empty. The letter is not final, so send me any feedback this week before the meeting. As a reminder, we also have the pool construction that I am following up to confirm is starting soon and the funds to fix the playground. Lots of excitement!
Please join us virtually at 7:00pm for our next (and my final) ANC meeting. The agenda and zoom link will be posted here. We will be voting on a number of issues including the federal occupation.
