Hello Church, I hope you are well. As many of you know I grew up in Connecticut in a town called New Milford. While New England is known for great fall colors, awesome hiking and delicious seafood. The people are not known for suffering small talk. Most tend to be direct and while they may sound angry they are not. It is not the kind of place where you make small talk in the checkout line at the grocery store. Here, in the heart of the midwest people are very friendly (well at least they appear to be, it took me a while to understand “bless your heart.”) The thing I have noticed in both places is that people are uncomfortable talking about their faith and being a witness for Jesus Christ. What they don’t notice is that they already are witnessing through their actions. As I mentioned on Sunday St. Francis had it right, when he said, “Preach the gospel always and if necessary use words.” The most important thing to remember is to let the spirit lead and be authentic, be you and be a witness. And now, may we be united as the body of Christ, enabling us to carry the peace and love of God to the world and our community. Amen!
