Yesterday, at 7:34 am local time, Colombia was struck by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake. The epicenter was in San José del Palmar, in the department of Chocó—one of the most vulnerable and neglected areas of the country, where most of the region is only reachable by boat or plane.

The earthquake was so strong, it was felt in most of the country and neighboring ones including Panama, Venezuela, and Ecuador.

I live in Bogotá, and thankfully, my family, friends, and I are all safe. It was the strongest earthquake I've ever lived through, but for us it wasn't more than a hell of a scare. Sadly though, other areas of the country including Pereira, Cali, Quibdó, Manizales and Armenia, suffered catastrophic consequences.

As of this Tuesday afternoon, the confirmed death toll is over 250, with injuries in the hundreds. Numbers are expected to rise. Colombia needs as much help as possible.

Most of you are not in Colombia, so I put together a list of verified resources where you can donate from abroad. Money is the most helpful resource in times of catastrophic crises like this one, especially in the most critical hours after the event. If you are not in the position to donate, please share this with as many people as you can.

Again, if you can’t donate, please re-stack, share with your relatives, friends, or anyone who might be able to help!!!!
