Hello, and welcome to the final, extra-long chapter of Atsushi Kaneko’s Search and Destroy, based on the manga Dororo by Osamu Tezuka. This manga is translated into English by Ben Applegate, lettered by Phil Christie, and edited by myself, Christopher Woodrow-Butcher. This volume will be collected in print by Fantagraphics Books on September 30th, 2025, as Search and Destroy Volume 3. Pre-order your copy now.
It’s worth noting we’ll be doing one more “bonus chapter” of Search and Destroy next week, which includes Kaneko-sensei’s afterword and a few other surprises. This will be free to read for everyone, so we look forward to seeing everyone again next week.
For now though, this post is for paid subscribers to Mangasplaining Extra, with CBZs and PDFs of this chapter at the end of this post. Everyone else can enjoy a few preview pages, or the free chapters available below:

Regular readers will know that we got the grand climax last week, with all of the disparate threads and characters’ stories coming together in a chorus and a crescendo, sort of like that middle bit of Les Mis. So what follows is both the conclusion and an epilogue, a denouement, to the story, but Kaneko-sensei still has some incredible surprises up his sleeve for Hyaku.
There are a few double-page spreads this episode that have a bit more punch on the website, FWIW. Enjoy!
