The Odd Mart comics shop in Minneapolis, Minnesota is hosting an indie comics market, FLOP, this Memorial Day weekend, and we’ll be tabling there on Saturday, May 23rd from 12pm to 4pm!

As usual, we’ve got most of our books for sale at our table, including the just-released Princess Da Huang and Other Tales and the long-awaited reprint of ALTERNATIVE[SELF LINER NOTE]!

Here for some queer manga? We’ve got you covered with Mutsumi Natsuo’s Boyish² butch yuri anthology and the smash hit BL about animators, I’ll See You at Ebisu Studios, volume 1, which comes a special bonus artcard available while supplies last!

All of our books will all be available at special discounted rates for the convention, about $1 off MSRP each! We’ve also got a great bundle deal where you can buy all six Manga Mavericks Books titles for just $40! That’s basically the equivalent of getting a FREE copy of one of our $5 titles like Alternative or Bonds! We’re also selling our “Go For It, Manga Mavericks!” print for $2, and we’re giving out FREE posters for Zigoku’s Foreman and FREE bookmarks for both Zigoku’s Foreman and ALTERNATIVE[SELF LINER NOTE]!!

Our very own Siddharth Gupta will be guesting on a panel with a dream team of indie manga publishers and artists - including Sean Michael Robinson (founder of LivingtheLine/Smudge), Tomasz Kacynski (founder of Uncivilized Books), and Minneapolis-based indie comix artist Xiomar Luna - to reflect on the manga that got us into manga and recommend the manga we’re reading and love that you should be reading too! What manga will we recommend? FLOP around and find out! Join us at the Dreamstate Cafe at 2:30pm and grab some coffee and a sweet treat as we discuss our favorite manga, and soon to be yours!

We’ll have an even bigger lineup of books available there, which should include the freshly arrived first print run of Red String’s manzai BL manga Funny Bone! Oh Canda, come join us this June in Toronto for a veritable torrent-o of manga!

We’ve had a lot of fun traveling to and exhibiting at conventions all around the country, including major cons in L.A. and NYC like Anime Los Angeles and New York Comic Con, and we’re delighted to participate in a smaller comics-focused events like FLOP and TCAF that celebrate local indie comics creators and small press publishers! We’re also particularly excited to have our books featured amongst the incredible collection of comics at Odd Mart! Founded by Brad McGinty, an indie comics artist himself known for his bold and crazy monster and creature designs, Odd Mart is one of the coolest comics shops in the country, stocking a huge variety of different indie and alternative comix from local, national, and international creators, alongside selling cool handmade art, crafts, and other artfully made trinkets and collectibles! Every Sunday, they hold an “Odd Market” where local creators and vendors set up shop to sell their homemade art and wares, giving a wonderful platform and opportunity for independent artists to get their work seen and sold. They also offer classes on Saturdays where you can learn a variety of different art and crafting skills, helping foster and grow the independent art community in Minneapolis. Plus, they sell great gum that comes with a cool FREE t-shirt for the low, low price of $25 (what a deal!).
