Who Influenced Who?

I may be the influencer by trade, but those of you who’ve been around long enough to know my mom’s fashion know she has absolutely fantastic taste, and influences me just as much as I influence her. It goes both ways, always.

Back in September I did a “Wardrobe Wisdom Q&A" with my mom where we chatted about her style and how it came to be. If you haven’t read it yet, it’s a must.

And you all loved Part 1 of “Who Influenced Who?!” on Instagram so much that Part 2 is on its way.

Here’s the full breakdown.

I influenced her: Taffeta pants. And now she has five pairs. FIVE. Including the Chan Luu pair and the Donni gingham. I consider this my greatest achievement.

I influenced her: The Deep End denim button-down from AYR. A great piece and she wears it constantly.

She influenced me: The Jamie Haller loafer. Aka the most comfortable pair of shoes I own. I owe her one.

She influenced me: The Natori Bliss Perfection Contour Underwire Bra. The greatest bra ever made.

I influenced her: The Citizens Winslow jeans. I mean, I’d hope so, I am genuinely obsessed and have been talking about them nonstop.

She influenced me: Vanicream moisturizer from the drugstore. Why was I wasting my money on other moisturizers?!

I influenced her: The Ruti On The Loose work pants. She wore them on a plane recently, spilled an entire water bottle on herself, and they were dry ten minutes later. If that doesn’t say everything about these pants, I don’t know what does.

She influenced me: The Manicurist pink nail polish. Base coat, color, and top coat all in one. I am completely obsessed and will never go back.

I influenced her: To go to therapy. That one might be my favorite of all.

She influenced me: Mahjong. And now we play together all the time and it’s one of my favorite things we do. I got the cutest set from Oh My Mahjong.

I influenced her: Pointe Studio pilates socks. Feeling cute at a workout genuinely helps. She gets it now too.

She influenced me: Kule tees. Such great quality and the best striped colorways. She has good taste.

I influenced her: Iced almond milk lattes with a touch of hazelnut. Enough said.

She influenced me: The Boden shirt dress from Xírena. I featured this in my 20 Things I Loved in June as a piece I love wearing multiple ways, as a dress or open over mini shorts. So thank you, mom, for essentially giving me multiple outfits in one.

I influenced her: The Jenni Kayne straw hat. This has not left my head all summer and now it won’t leave hers either.

She influenced me: Amazon hair ties. Thank her later. These are genuinely the best and better than the fancier versions I’d been buying.

I influenced her: Autry sneakers. Such a good shoe that you can walk miles in.

She influenced me: A jar opener. If you think you need one, you’re probably right. Game changer.

I influenced her: The Chan Luu printed set. Everything Chan Luu is so good right now.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree and, neither does the shopping cart. I genuinely think we make each other better dressers, and I love that this is something we share. Stay tuned because I have a feeling Part 3 is already in the making.
